I should do that post, advertizing my favorite comm.

Yes, novel_in_90 , autumn round has just started.

No, I’m not really taking part this time, at least I don’t think so. This revision process is much more hectic than I anticipated. Maybe I should find some frame in which to work, like it was with 750 words daily? But what would that be? Time spent on the book? Sometimes I gape at the text for hours and nothing happens. Number of words/pages rewritten is totally not that, because of the abovementioned. Oi.
Besides I can't really write, y'know? I'm lame like that.

Anyway, novel_in_90  is up and waiting for YOU!

Revision is going slowly. I realized I can only work on it when I have peace and quiet, what means about four hours a week. On a good week that is. Saturday and Sunday mornings, when kids are asleep and I don't have to go to work. I had a bit of free time today - didn't go to work, because Eve had an appointment at ophthamologist, and then I left her at grandparents, and had about an hour just to myself.

So I finally managed to rewrite the first passage of the second chapter and I'm rather pleased with it. Had to change the PoV, and now it seems to click. Will see how it feels when I read it later... It's the first time I actually had the courage to go forth with a complete change like that. I wonder what else new I will learn with this novel. :)

The rewrite goes awfully slowly not just due to lack of time, or lack of opportunities to concentrate, but also due to my new obsession. I have to admit I'm so crazed up about "Supernatural", I started writing a fanfic. And since it doesn't require as much concentration as trying to shape my miserable first draft of a book into a gem, I devote all five days of the week (well, all the free time I have at work, which is surprisingly a lot, lately) to that fic. But I decided that I will not be posting fanfiction on this journal any more. I'll post a link when I have that other one, dedicated solely to fanfiction, set up. I don't think I will be moving all the bsg fics there, but I will be posting whatever new comes up.

What else? Lots of school stuff, because Iga is a new schoolgirl. I'm starting to understand what it means when they say that "small kids -- small problems; big kids -- big problems".

Because learningtoread  complains that people on her f-list aren’t blogging about the process of revising their novels...

And because she poseted the link to Holly Lisle's One-Pass Manuscript Revision tutorial.

And because I think I may find it useful.

So what does Holly Lisle advice to do before you start revising? Take a notebook and write the answers to a few questions.

My answers, or most of them, anyway.Collapse )

And, oh, Eliza (it's Eliza, right?), I know that I'm neiter Agented nor Contracted, but I hope you find it interesting anyway. ;)

Uh, I'm done with the first re-draft of the first chapter of "Choices and Chances". Now re-read, another edit, and I'd like to ask for a fresh pair of eyes, preferably a few, to take a look at that. I know that dear ammonite7  agreed to give me her eyes and brains (I can still count on you, right?), but one or two more would be nice. What I need most is for someone to tell me if I made the character(s) believable and interesting. I've been writing them for so long I read it now and find it boring like hell, but hopefully this is just my malcontence talking.

I would need some grammar corrections as well, probably, although I'm not sure if that is necessary at this point. Maybe the most glaring mistakes. And I tried to write it in British-English if there is some big difference... I rarely see one beside some spelling differences. Oh, well. Please, let me know if anyone is into it.

Okay, so I realize it's probably 29th in Japan already, but it's still 28th where I live, so...
